parody party!

you know every time I turn around it seeming like an entire month has passed. So you know what that means....time for an exciting "what the hell is susan doing with her life update". Since I haven't blogged for an entire month that should be a good clue as to how my month of april went- I spent the entirety of that month BEING SLAMMED WITH USELESS TIME CONSUMING GROUP PROJECT IS THERE NO END. however since I wrote a blog about this degenerative disease that seems to be infecting the minds of professors everywhere i shall resist speaking on it anymore. On to bigger and better things. Be expecting more updates more frequently since summer is soon approaching on us. Anyway on to todays topic

Huzzah for trailer remixes. Here is clear evidence that "spoof humor" is making a comeback. It seems like for the last oh ten years, cinema has been obsessed with making "philosophical" and "meaningful" movies, Movies which i tend to thing are absolute bull crap. Cinema is a great form of escaping reality, so lets not taint it with the bitter cynicsism that rules everyday life. The greats like mel brooks and liesly Nielson have been sorely neglected. SO ....when i discovered these amateur Spoof films on the internet, I felt uplifted and hopeful. Maybe "spoof humor has a future after all!" step back Francis Ford Coppola , be gone Sam Mendes, the new generation of humor is taking the box office....or just internet downloads....well who cares.

The film genre "parodies" is defined the conventions of alternative films that are thusly lampooned and mocked for their elements. For example, audiences who know and have seen classic western will have certain expectations for movies claiming to be of the Western genre, and when these expectations were inverted, the audience has been introduced to a parody.
Sometimes the reputation of a parody outlasts the reputation of what is being parodied. A notable case is the airplane by directed by the zucker brothers, which was a parody of the copious amounts of disaster movies centered around airplanes that were being produced in the 70's. A subset of parody is self-parody in which artists satiric themselves (such as in Ricky Gervais's Extras) or their work (such as Antonio Banderas's Puss in Boots in Shrek 2. Snl is another good source for movie parodies. What to experience some of this satirical goodness? I have a complied a list of links to some great online movie spoofs, enjoy!
