Ah the Midwest .....

Well dearies it is back to the Midwest and a slower way of life. I arrived home from Oxford this past Monday...After a 9 and half hour flight (this of course is including that we taxied around the heathrow airport for an hour due to the fact the emergency lights came on inexplicably a few minutes before take-off). This flight included 8 and half hours of bad airplane food (that was somehow better than anything I every had in England), a little girl in front of me drooling in my soda, and watching the cinematic masterpiece Sky High three times in the row..It could be due to this that when I stepped off the plane I immediately proceed to enthusiastically kiss the ground. After getting off of my flight my fun was not yet over as I got to play rousing game of 20 questions with customs before being allowed into the country

immigration officer "are you carrying oranges"

me : "nope"

immigration officer: " are you carrying apples"

me: "nope"

immigration officer: "are you carrying kiwi"( I kid you not)

me : "N OOOOO...

immigration officer: "do you have any small animals of any kind"

me: No

immigration officer: do you have potatoes.....

me: NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

and so on and so forth

I tell you sometimes customs is a pain in the neck...The most unorganized branch of the airport ever...However we (the collective we of course) are now safe and sound in the great U S of A ..The first thing I did of course (aside of hugging mom and Amelia like crazy)...Was to go out and have a nice large...Very large cup of starbucks coffee. Yes indeed it does taste different than the rather pathetic British version of starbucks coffee. It was wonderful having the warm rich Columbian roast with a hint of cinnamon and dash of mocha powder grande starbucks americano slide down my throat...And in that moment I treasured the fact that I was home. Well of course after such a profound moment, one would think that I would continue to kick back, relax and enjoy myself and my new found time ...(now that I am not frantically writing papers)...But no...One of the stipulations about living in Wisconsin is all the snow. That's right folks I was shoveling snow at 8 o'clock in the morning Tuesday and this morning as well. Sigh...Oh well in the coming days I shall endeavor to A) get over jet lag B) what some bad horror movies and C) continue my quest to find the best cup of coffee ever.......
